Sometimes I hear bells through the night,
silences light up like small lamps,
in the distance the White Angel sings.
“What hour is it?” my mother asks.
An unknown rain follows me tonight.
Have the saints awakened the night,
or are the gates opening through a distant prayer?
You are not alone, dear little girl.
Someone far away is calling through the night.
Those are not strange voices,
but your mother’s prayer reaching you through the night.
Since ancient times, before the Annunciation, the nights have shone.
Only the rare ones hear it through the roar of night:
the reflection from a star and the prayer of the night.
Far away, far away, is everything dear to the heart.
The heavens still cover the night,
and in the darkness a prayer echoes.
It is heard softly, the prayer flowing
from a mother’s lips:
My son, may dear God protect you.
And there, far away, in some other time,
nestled softly, a sound sings into faith.
It is a sign from heaven
that the Lord hears and protects
all children in His embrace.
I pray to You, O our God...
